The rise of a young MP player from remote tribal community to national Kabaddi champion of India

A 19-year-old from a tiny tribal town in Madhya Pradesh has brought honour to the state by being chosen for India’s Under-19 Kabaddi team and aiding in the nation’s triumph on the international scene. Sachin Kushram, a young man from the Rusa Mal hamlet in the Dindori region of the State, was a member of the Indian under-19 Kabaddi squad that won the championship by defeating Iran. Iran hosted the under-19 Kabaddi match from February 26 to March 5.

In an interview with ANI, Sachin explained that after being chosen for the university squad, he went on to be chosen for the Under-19 Indian Kabaddi team. “After that we went to Iran to play a World Cup match. Our first match was held against Bangladesh and we defeated them. Similarly, we defeated Pakistan in the semi-finals and then played a final match against Iran. In the final match, a moment came in which we thought that we could lost the match but the team come back and won the final title,” he added

According to Sachin, he attended Dindori’s Saraswati Shishu Mandir for his primary education. After that, he completed his elementary schooling in Jabalpur and his high school education in Katni. He went back to his hometown to finish his higher secondary schooling. After that, he passed the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), was admitted to college, and was later chosen for the university’s Kabaddi team.

“I received full support from my father and he said play as much as you can, he will support me,” said Sachin. Manoj Kushram, the father of Sachin and a government teacher, claimed. “I am very happy for my son. I want my son to bring laurels to the family, society, village, district, state and country through his game.”

According to Sachin, his parents, coach Jagdish Kumble, and coach Anoop Yadav all played a significant role in his success and helped him get where he is today.
