Dhanalakshmi, the 25-year-old female kabaddi player, committed herself on Wednesday at her home in Adarsh Nagar, Nelamangala. According to the authorities, the cause of her drastic action is yet unknown.

Dhanalakshmi, who had supposedly competed in a number of state and national kabaddi competitions, is said to have hung herself on Wednesday evening. When she supposedly made the drastic move, her father was at home.

Dhanalakshmi, a native of Hassan, relocated to Bengaluru with her family so she could complete her Masters in Computer Applications (MCA). She then started working for a private firm in Kadugodi.

For the previous five years, she had been living in a leased flat in Arishinakunte’s Adarsh Nagar. The police in Nelamangala Town have opened an investigation into an unexplained death case.

The police stated that, “Dhanalakshmi had gone to Mysuru with her friends to witness the Dasara Jamboo Savari and had returned two days ago. Investigation revealed that she was fine in the morning and showed no signs of taking the extreme step. Around 4 pm, her father, who found her hanging, brought her down and rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead.”

Another police officer added that, “While no death note has been found in the house, her parents are not revealing the possible reasons that might have led Dhanalakshmi to end her life. We are investigating to ascertain the reason.”
