India and Afghanistan faced each other in the second T20I at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, with India looking to seal the series after winning the opening match. Afghanistan were hoping to put up a stronger batting performance after being restricted to 156 in the first game, but India’s bowlers once again kept them under pressure throughout the innings.
With Afghanistan looking to add valuable runs in the final overs, Rashid Khan provided some much-needed momentum with an aggressive cameo. However, his innings ended in spectacular fashion when Axar Patel produced a brilliant catch at deep square leg to give Nitish Kumar Reddy his third wicket.

Reddy produced another first-ball wicket when he dismissed Rashid on the opening delivery of the 20th over. Rashid attempted to swing the ball across the line and made a high connection off the bat, sending it towards deep square leg. Axar immediately moved to his left and covered significant ground before diving full length to complete the catch just inches above the ground.
The India all-rounder held on to a difficult chance, producing one of the standout fielding moments of the match. Rashid’s dismissal ended his entertaining knock on 28 off 16 deliveries. He struck three fours and one six during his stay at the crease, helping Afghanistan add some late runs after losing wickets regularly through the middle overs.

India’s bowlers keep Afghanistan under pressure
Axar’s catch capped another impressive bowling display from India, with Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh once again setting the tone with the new ball. Bumrah opened with a maiden and kept Afghanistan’s batters under pressure, while Arshdeep dismissed Rahmanullah Gurbaz for his second duck of the series. Afghanistan struggled to build partnerships despite Ibrahim Zadran fighting hard at the top of the order.
Zadran eventually fell for 37 off 33 deliveries when he picked out deep midwicket against Reddy, who finished with figures of 3/24. Ravi Bishnoi, replacing the injured Varun Chakaravarthy, also picked up a wicket, while Axar had Azmatullah Omarzai caught in his final over. Rashid’s late assault briefly gave Afghanistan hope of pushing towards a competitive score, but his dismissal left them at 159 for 8.
The total proved well below par on a good batting surface in Delhi. Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma then produced an explosive start to India’s chase, scoring 57 off 21 and 39 off 19 respectively. Their assault helped India reach the target in just 14.5 overs and seal the series 2-0 with one match still remaining.
