India are set to make a major change to their ODI squad ahead of the upcoming series against New Zealand, with Delhi Capitals (DC) fast bowler Auqib Nabi replacing Prasidh Krishna.

Prasidh is recovering from a hamstring injury and will miss the five-match ODI series, which begins on November 4. The Indian team management has considered Nabi for the vacant spot after the pacer impressed in domestic cricket and during India A’s current tour of New Zealand.

Prasidh Krishna’s hamstring injury raises concern

Prasidh’s injury has disrupted his preparations for India’s New Zealand tour. The right-arm fast bowler sustained a left hamstring injury during the second ODI against the West Indies earlier in October.

The injury forced him to miss the third ODI against the Caribbean side, and his recovery has now become a concern ahead of the New Zealand assignment.

Prasidh was initially selected for the first three ODIs against New Zealand, subject to fitness clearance. However, reports indicate that he has not recovered sufficiently to participate in the series.

His absence is big setback for India’s pace attack. Prasidh’s height allows him to generate bounce, while his ability to hit hard lengths can make him effective in conditions that assist fast bowling.

Meanwhile, Nabi has steadily built his reputation through domestic cricket, particularly with Jammu and Kashmir. The right-arm pacer has attracted attention for his ability to take wickets consistently and maintain control with the ball.

His performances in domestic competitions have strengthened his reputation as a bowler capable of challenging established batters. He has also earned opportunities to represent India A, giving the selectors a closer look at his ability to perform against international-level opposition.

Nabi recently featured in India A’s unofficial red-ball matches against New Zealand A. His performances during the tour have reportedly strengthened his case for a senior-team opportunity.
