The focus now shifts to the shortest format as India and West Indies begin a five-match T20I series on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. The series follows India’s 2-1 ODI victory over West Indies and promises another closely watched battle between two sides with plenty of firepower.
India will enter the T20I series with a different combination and a renewed focus on the shortest format. The hosts will be keen to put the disappointment of the final ODI behind them and begin the series strongly on home soil.
The Indian batting lineup possesses plenty of firepower, while the bowling attack offers a combination of pace and spin. The series will also provide opportunities for players looking to establish themselves in India’s T20I setup.
India’s biggest strength could be their ability to maintain a high scoring rate throughout the innings. With several aggressive batters available, the Shreyas Iyer-led side will be expected to adopt an attacking approach from the powerplay.
On the other hand, West Indies will arrive with plenty of confidence after their memorable win in the third ODI. Hope’s spectacular 162 not out demonstrated the team’s ability to chase a huge target under pressure, and that belief could prove valuable in the T20I series.
The Caribbean side has a reputation for producing explosive T20 cricket. Their batting lineup contains players capable of changing a game within a few overs, while their bowling options can also create problems on favourable conditions.
The addition of Amir Jangoo as cover for the injured Jewel Andrew gives West Indies another wicketkeeping and batting option heading into the series.
