The UPT20 League 2026 is set for a thrilling conclusion on Sunday as Lucknow Falcons face defending finalists Meerut Mavericks in the grand finale at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. The contest brings together two teams that have taken very different paths to the summit, with Lucknow chasing their first title and Meerut aiming to add another trophy to their collection.

Lucknow Falcons eye maiden UPT20 League title

Lucknow’s journey to the final has been one of the biggest turnaround stories of the tournament. After losing three of their first four matches, the Falcons found their rhythm at the right time and went unbeaten across their next seven outings. They finished second in the league standings with 13 points after winning five of their next six matches, while one fixture was washed out. Their impressive run continued in Qualifier 1, where they defeated Meerut to book their place directly in the final.

Captain Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been central to Lucknow’s campaign. The experienced seamer delivered a superb 4/10 in the Qualifier 1 victory and has collected 13 wickets overall at an economy rate below six. The Falcons have also received valuable contributions with the bat. Ajeet Verma has scored 263 runs, while Mohammad Saif has added 233. Young all-rounder Vipraj Nigam has impressed with his aggressive strokeplay and useful bowling, scoring at nearly 160 and claiming 11 wickets.

Abhinandan Singh has been another standout performer, with his 21 wickets placing him second in the tournament’s Purple Cap race.

Meerut Mavericks chasing another championship

Meerut Mavericks have once again demonstrated their consistency by reaching the UP T20 League final for the fourth successive season. They enjoyed a spectacular start, winning seven matches on the trot and finishing first in the league table with 15 points.

However, their momentum faded late in the competition. A washout followed by two league defeats and the Qualifier 1 loss to Lucknow put them under pressure. The Mavericks responded in style, though, defeating the Noida Kings by six wickets in Qualifier 2 to keep their title hopes alive.

Opening batter Swastik Chikara has been one of the tournament’s leading run-scorers, accumulating 308 runs at a remarkable strike rate of 166.49. Rinku Singh has contributed 240 runs and offers Meerut a dangerous option in the closing stages of an innings with his strike rate of 171.

With the ball, leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari has been exceptional. His 23 wickets make him the leading wicket-taker of the tournament, while his economy rate stands at 6.79. Yash Garg also delivered when Meerut needed him most in Qualifier 2, taking three wickets before finishing unbeaten on a half-century.
