Shadab Khan bowls Dwaine Pretorius with stunning googly as Antigua and Barbuda Falcons beat Guyana Amazon Warriors in CPL 2026

Antigua and Barbuda Falcons produced a strong all-round performance to hand Guyana Amazon Warriors their first defeat of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 season. The Falcons posted 182/5 after being asked to bat first before bowling the Amazon Warriors out for just 117.

Shadab Khan played a major role in the victory, first providing a late flourish with the bat before making an impact with the ball. The Pakistan all-rounder produced a brilliant googly to dismiss Dwaine Pretorius in the eighth over of the chase as Guyana continued to lose wickets.

Shadab Khan produces stunning googly to dismiss Dwaine Pretorius

Shadab came into the attack with Guyana already in serious trouble and made an immediate impact. With the second delivery of his second over, the leg-spinner bowled a googly around off stump that completely deceived Pretorius. He went for a drive but failed to read the change in direction off the pitch.

The ball beat his outside edge and crashed into the stumps, ending his stay at the crease after he had managed just one run from three deliveries. The wicket was another blow for the Amazon Warriors, who had slipped to seven down and were staring at a big defeat. Shadab’s delivery was the perfect example of his ability to deceive batters with his variations.

Shadab Khan and Alzarri Joseph lead Falcons to a big win

The Falcons had been restricted for much of their innings but changed the momentum dramatically in the final three overs. Shadab smashed an unbeaten 30 off just nine balls, hitting two fours and three sixes, while Moeen Ali and Fabian Allen also contributed as the Falcons added 60 runs late on.

Guyana started their chase quickly, but Alzarri Joseph turned the game around by claiming three wickets across his first two overs. He finished with 4/41, while Shadab and Sufyan Moqim picked up two wickets each as the Amazon Warriors collapsed to 117 in 14.2 overs. The 65-run win ended Guyana’s six-match winning streak and took Antigua and Barbuda Falcons to the top of the CPL 2026 table with 13 points.
