Ben Curran suffers bizarre bowled dismissal during 3rd ODI

A bizarre moment stole the spotlight during the third and final ODI between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh at the Harare Sports Club on Saturday, as Zimbabwe opener Ben Curran suffered one of the unluckiest dismissals of the series. The left-hander looked set to survive a probing spell from Bangladesh’s pace attack before an unfortunate twist of fate brought his innings to an end, leaving players and fans stunned.

Ben Curran’s bizarre dismissal leaves everyone stunned

The incident took place in the sixth over of Zimbabwe’s innings when Bangladesh pacer Shoriful Islam bowled a short-of-a-length delivery on the stumps. Curran attempted to defend the ball with soft hands, seemingly managing to keep it out safely.

However, the ball trickled off the inside edge and slowly rolled back towards the stumps. Despite Curran quickly turning around in an attempt to stop it with his bat, he could not prevent the ball from dislodging the bail, resulting in a bizarre bowled dismissal. Shoriful was rewarded with the wicket, while Curran had to walk back after scoring just two runs off 13 deliveries.

Zimbabwe post 199 after opting to bat

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field first. Zimbabwe were eventually bowled out for 199 in 48.1 overs despite a fighting effort from the middle order. Wessly Madhevere anchored the innings with a well-made 75 off 74 balls, hitting five fours and a six, while Brad Evans provided late momentum with an aggressive 50 from just 43 deliveries, including five boundaries and two sixes.

For Bangladesh, Shoriful was the standout performer with the ball, finishing with impressive figures of 4/44. Taskin Ahmed and Tanvir Islam chipped in with two wickets each to help restrict the hosts below the 200-run mark. Having already secured the series with victories in the opening two ODIs, Zimbabwe entered the contest aiming to complete a memorable 3-0 whitewash on home soil. Bangladesh, meanwhile, were looking to salvage some pride by avoiding a clean sweep in the final match of the series.
