ICC name Team of the Tournament for U19 World Cup 2026

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially unveiled the Team of the Tournament for the U19 World Cup 2026, and it features lots of young stars. Following a flawless, undefeated campaign that culminated in a crushing 100-run victory for Team India over England in the final, three Indian stalwarts have been named in the elite 12-member squad. The selection, made by a panel of experts including Ian Bishop and Andy Flower, highlights the depth of talent that propelled India to a record-extending sixth crown.

U19 World Cup 2026: Vaibhav Suryavanshi headlines Team of the Tournament

Headlining the list is 14-year-old batting prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The left-handed opener finished the tournament with 439 runs, but it was his historic performance in the final that etched his name in the record books. Suryavanshi’s breathtaking 175 off just 80 balls—featuring 15 fours and 15 sixes—became the highest individual score ever recorded in a U19 World Cup final. His ability to blend classical strokes with modern-day aggression earned him the Player of the Tournament accolade and the top spot in the global XI.

U19 World Cup 2026: The all-round brilliance of Kanishk Chouhan

Joining Suryavanshi is the versatile Kanishk Chouhan, who served as the backbone of India’s middle order and a vital secondary bowling option. Chouhan’s consistency was his greatest asset, amassing 113 runs at a strike rate of 116.49. Often coming in during high-pressure situations, his ability to stabilize the innings and then accelerate proved crucial. On the field, he also chipped in with key wickets, ending the tournament with an impressive economy rate of 4.52.

Henil Patel: The leading edge of bowling attack

Rounding out the Indian trio is pace sensation Henil Patel. While Suryavanshi dominated the headlines with the bat, Patel was the silent assassin with the ball. He finished the campaign with 11 wickets, including a career-defining spell of 5 for 16 against the USA during the group stages. His discipline in the Powerplay and his knack for breaking partnerships made him one of the most feared bowlers in Harare, justifying his inclusion as a primary strike bowler in the Team of the Tournament.

While India and runners-up England (represented by captain Thomas Rew, Ben Mayes, and Manny Lumsden) dominated the selections, the team also features standout performers from other nations. Sri Lanka’s Viran Chamuditha, who scored a tournament-high 192, and Afghanistan’s Faisal Khan Shinozada both earned spots after prolific batting displays. The bowling department is bolstered by Pakistan’s Ali Raza and Afghanistan’s Nooristani Omarzai, ensuring a well-rounded squad that represents the very best of the 2026 edition.
