Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has once again become the subject of social media speculation after a podcast clip featuring radio jockey RJ Mahvash went viral. The video sparked claims that the leg-spinner had cheated on his former wife, Dhanashree Verma, while she was pregnant. However, the original context of Mahvash’s remarks tells a different story.

What did RJ Mahvash say in the viral video?

In the widely circulated clip, Mahvash discussed a man who allegedly cheated on his pregnant wife before getting divorced. Her remarks included the following statement:

“Oh God, jis cheez se upper wala apko bachata hai, this man got a divorce as he cheated on his pregnant wife. Ones a Cheater always a cheater and nothing can change that.”

The clip quickly attracted attention because Mahvash had previously been linked to Chahal in online discussions following his separation from Dhanashree. Some social media users consequently interpreted the comments as a revelation about the cricketer’s marriage.

However, reports on the fuller podcast conversation explain that Mahvash was recalling a relationship from when she was around 19 years old and living in Aligarh. She reportedly met the man through Facebook and later discovered that he had married someone else and allegedly cheated on his pregnant wife.

The viral interpretation therefore leaves out a crucial detail: the story was about Mahvash’s former partner, and her remarks do not establish that Chahal was the person she was describing.

Why are Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma being dragged into the controversy?

Chahal and Dhanashree married in December 2020 after meeting during the COVID-19 lockdown. Their relationship attracted considerable public attention, particularly because Dhanashree is a dancer and choreographer while Chahal is one of India’s prominent white-ball bowlers.

The couple’s marriage ended in divorce in March 2025. Following their separation, Chahal was repeatedly linked to Mahvash after the two were seen together in public, prompting speculation about their relationship. The former couple’s separation has previously generated headlines because of comments made in interviews and on television.

In an interview with YouTuber Raj Shamani, Chahal addressed the accusations of infidelity that had circulated online.

“And I have never cheated in my life. I am not that person. You will never find anyone as loyal as me,” he said.

Separately, Dhanashree discussed her marriage on the reality show Rise & Fall, making comments that were widely interpreted as suggesting she had discovered a betrayal early in the relationship.
