Charli Knott’s century helps Brisbane Heat end WBBL winless run
Earlier, Charli Knott produced a sensational innings to guide Brisbane Heat to 184/4 in their 20 overs. The all-rounder smashed 104 off just 61 deliveries, hitting 12 fours and four sixes to register her maiden WBBL century. Her innings provided the foundation for a competitive total, with the batter dominating the Strikers bowling attack throughout her stay at the crease. Knott was eventually run out in the 18th over after a brilliant knock.
In reply, Laura Wolvaardt led Adelaide’s chase with a well-compiled 75, while Penna provided the late fireworks with 68 off 41 balls. The pair kept the Strikers in the contest, but Brisbane’s bowlers made sure they did not cross the finish line. Sarah Glenn removed Wolvaardt and captain Tahlia McGrath, while Grace Harris also picked up two wickets. The Heat restricted Adelaide to 170/5, sealing a 14-run victory and ending their 706-day wait for a WBBL win.
