MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin – Here are the player rankings for this week’s most talked-about players in the league. Being included here simply indicates that the NBA community is aware of you; it does not imply that you are unquestionably doing something correctly. Furthermore, this is unranked. The players listed are not in any particular order.
Donovan Mitchell just required 34 attempts to score 71 points. Among the seven players who have ever scored 70 points, that is the fewest field goal attempts. It is advantageous to make 25 trips to the free-throw line. After going 7 for 15 from beyond the arc, Mitchell became the first player in the 70-point club to have at least 10 assists (11).
Mitchell astonishingly totaled 99 points, including his own goals and those he assisted on. 104pts were scored by Wilt Chamberlain during his legendary 100-point effort in 1962, making this total the second-highest in history. In that game, Chamberlain actually only had two assists.
At the half, Mitchell had just 16 points, which was an impressive demonstration of athleticism. In overtime, he scored 13 points. According to the calculations, the second half featured 42pts. The 71 tops Mitchell’s previous career high of 57, which LeBron James and Kyrie Irving established while playing for Cleveland.
On Tuesday, Giannis Antetokounmpo notched his third straight 40-point performance, surpassing his previous best of 50 points in a victory over the Wizards. Prior to it, he scored 43 points against Minnesota and 45 points against Chicago, becoming the first player since Wilt Chamberlain to accomplish this feat. He also had two games with 40 points and 20 rebounds.
By topping Flynn Robinson’s 129 points from 1969 with 143 points in the final three games, Giannis established a new franchise record for the Bucks. Stats here follows, 55 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals, and with a 61 field goal percentage.
After hitting 43 points against Charlotte on Monday, LeBron James is now just 485 points shy from shattering Kareem Abdul-all-time Jabbar’s scoring record. James is working hard to keep the Lakers in the mix for a postseason place while averaging 29 points per game until Anthony Davis returns. He is expected to break the all-time scoring record on Saturday, February 4, in New Orleans if he maintains his current pace and doesn’t miss any games.
Luka Doncic is on pace to record the highest scoring average ever among all players who have made at least 50% of their shots for an entire season.
Highest PPG or Points Per Game on 50+ FG% season within the last 35 yrs so far:
34.3% – Luka Dončić (Just this Season)
33.6% – Michael Jordan (’90)
33.5% – Joel Embiid (This Season)
32.8% – Giannis Antetokounmpo (Just this Season)
Doncic has had the following stat lines since his historic 60-21-10 triple-double: 35-13-12, 51-9-6-4, and 39-12-8. Amazingly, this player easily posts these stats, and Dallas is once again bringing Doncic into the mix. The Mavericks are entering play on Wednesday as the No. 4 seed in the West after winning seven straight games.
Despite Mitchell’s brilliance overshadowing Klay Thompson’s 54-point outburst, it was still typical Klay Thompson. Thompson, who is renowned for never being afraid to take risks, attempted 39 shots and made 10 3-pointers, doing it twice this season and seven times total. The absence of a specific Thompson colleague would be unprecedented.
So far, Thompson is one of only six players in history to have scored at least 50 points and 10 three-pointers in the same contest.
De’Aaron Fox scored 22 of his 37 points in the fourth quarter, including the jumper that ended up being the game-winner with 0.4 seconds left, helping Sacramento to a thrilling victory recently
In a victory over the Pelicans, Joel Embiid notched 42 points and 11 rebounds, marking his eighth straight game with at least 40 points. In their previous 12 games, the Sixers had 10 victories. Harden is back in action. Similar to Maxey. While Niang is still a superb sharpshooter, Tobias Harris just had a month in which he shot 45 percent of his shots from outside the arc.
