The action continues as Chattogram Challengers take on the Khulna Tigers in the fourth match of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024. The match will be contested at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on January 20, Saturday. Shuvagata Hom will lead Chattogram while Khulna will be captained by top-order batter Anamul Haque Bijoy in the ongoing season as both sides aim to win a title.
Chattogram will kick start their campaign on January 19 against Sylhet Strikers at the same stadium. Meanwhile, the match against Chatogram will be the Tigers’ first game in the ongoing season.
Both Chattogram and Khulna had forgettable campaigns in the previous edition of the BPL. Chattogram finished at the bottom of the points table after the league stage while Khulna finished fifth.
Both sides have not found any success so far in the tournament, having reached the final once each. Khulna reached the final of the competition in 2019 but unfortunately fell short against Rajshahi Royals (defunct) by 21 runs losing the opportunity to win the title for the first time. The Tigers have played a total of 99 games so far in the tournament and the forthcoming game against Chattogram will be their 100th match.
Chattogram, on the other hand, have reached the final in 2013. Chittagong Kings (former name of Chattogram) finished as the runners-up after suffering a defeat against Dhaka Gladiators (Durdanto Dhaka) in the summit clash. Both Chattogram and Khulna are expected to deliver exhilarating performances when they lock horns in Dhaka.
