Mumbai Indians will be eager to make a remarkable turnaround in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League starting March 31. The five-time champions had the worst season ever in their history in 2022 as they finished on the last position on the points table with eight points to their name in 14 matches.

After their dismal run in 2022, Mumbai will look to make a turnaround in the upcoming season as they made some notable additions to their squad at the mini auction of IPL 2023.

They bought star all-rounder Cameron Green for a whopping INR 17.5 crore and Jhye Richardson for INR 1.5 crore to reinforce their squad. The return of Jofra Archer will also be a relief for Mumbai who missed the services of the speedster big time in 2022.

However, the absence of their star seamer Jasprit Bumrah will be a big loss for the Rohit Sharma-led team. Thogh they have Duan Jansen, Arjun Tendulkar, and Jason Behrendorff in the seam department.

The form of their captain will also play a key role as he failed to fire in 2022, ending the season without a single half-century to his name. Rohit isn’t in the best of forms entering the tournament as he had a forgettable 2022 T20 World Cup and hasn’t played a single T20I since then.

Mumbai’s batting further includes the likes of Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan and youngsters like Dewald Brevis and Tristan Stubbs to add the much-needed firepower.

To strengthen their spin department they bought the services of the veteran leg spinner Piyush Chawla at the mini-auction for INR 50 lakh. They further have left-arm spinner Hrithik Shokeen and off spinner Kumar Kartikeya in their arsenal to bring variety in their spin department.

Mumbai will start their campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday, April 2 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The five-time champions will be raring to go in the upcoming edition and show their opponents why they’re the undisputed champions of the league.
