Kavya Maran jumps off her seat and hugs Abhishek Sharma's mother after SRH opener smashes century against Punjab Kings - IPL 2025

The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium witnessed a breathtaking display of batting brilliance on Saturday night, as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener Abhishek Sharma smashed a sensational century against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL 2025. The electrifying atmosphere reached its peak when Abhishek reached the milestone, and the reaction of SRH CEO Kavya Maran became an instant talking point.

Abhishek’s explosive knock (141 runs off just 55 balls), a whirlwind of powerful strokes and elegant timing, propelled SRH towards a commanding position in their run chase. His century, one of the fastest in IPL history, sent shockwaves through the stadium and ignited a wave of euphoria among the home crowd.

Kavya Maran leaps in joy and embraces Abhishek Sharma’s mother

Among the most animated spectators was Kavya Maran, the daughter of SRH owner Kalanithi Maran. Known for her passionate involvement in the team’s fortunes, Kavya’s reaction to Abhishek’s century was a sight to behold. Overwhelmed by the moment, she jumped off her seat, her face beaming with joy. Videos and images circulating online captured her exuberant celebration, which included a heartfelt hug with Abhishek’s mother.

This emotional display of support and pride resonated with fans and highlighted the deep connection between the team management and its players.

Abhishek Sharma creates multiple records with his blistering century

The SRH versus PBKS encounter was a high-scoring thriller. Punjab Kings posted a formidable total of 245/6, but Abhishek’s incredible knock turned the tide. His century not only secured a crucial victory for SRH but also etched his name in IPL record books. He broke several records, including the fastest century by an SRH batter. His partnership with fellow opener Travis Head was particularly destructive, leaving the Punjab Kings’ bowlers with no answers.

With staggering 10 sixes, Abhishek broke the previous SRH record of 8, setting a new benchmark for power hitting in the Orange Army.

His tally of 24 boundaries put him level with Yashasvi Jaiswal and just shy of Chris Gayle’s record of 30.

Abhishek also etched his name in T20 history as the first batter to complete three centuries in 40 balls or fewer, surpassing the feats of David Miller and Dasun Shanaka.
