Daniesh Kaneria backs star opener as Pakistan’s next captain

Former Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria has put forward an interesting choice for the captaincy, suggesting that explosive batter Fakhar Zaman should take over from Rizwan. Speaking on ANI, Kaneria highlighted Fakhar’s fearless approach and ability to challenge opponents.

“He is fearless and will challenge you. He brings the X-factor. Yesterday (during the Pakistan-India match), Pakistan did not have him, as he was ruled out of the Champions Trophy due to injury. It must be acknowledged that he is an X-factor player,” Kaneria stated.

He also criticized the team management for not giving Fakhar enough opportunities and support, claiming that his aggressive playing style has been overlooked to maintain the dominance of Babar Azam and Rizwan.

“He is not given much support because it would disrupt Babar and Rizwan’s dominance. But he is a hardworking and courageous cricketer,” Kaneria added.
