Sydney Sixers have strengthened their squad ahead of Big Bash League (BBL) 2026-27 by bringing back a familiar face who previously represented the club in two seasons. The England international has signed a one-year contract as the Sixers look to build a competitive squad for the upcoming campaign.

The signing marks a return to Sydney after three seasons with Hobart Hurricanes. The experienced T20 campaigner brings international experience and skills with both bat and ball, with his death-bowling ability expected to be particularly valuable for the Sixers.

England all-rounder returns after three seasons away

Chris Jordan will return to the Sydney Sixers after previously representing the franchise in BBL|11 and BBL|12. He then spent three seasons with Hobart Hurricanes, having also played for Adelaide Strikers, Sydney Thunder and Perth Scorchers during his Big Bash career.

His return means he will have represented five different BBL franchises. Jordan was also part of England’s squad that won the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, where his experience and ability to deliver under pressure made him an important part of the team.

Sixers strengthen their bowling options for BBL|16

Jordan is expected to add depth to the Sixers’ bowling attack, particularly at the death. He joins Sean Abbott, Ben Dwarshuis and Fergus O’Neill as part of the team’s pace-bowling options. The reunion could also bring him back together with Sydney Sixers coach Matthew Mott. The former England men’s coach guided the national side to the 2022 T20 World Cup title, with Jordan playing a key role in that campaign.

Speaking about his return, Jordan said he had loved his previous time with the Sixers and was excited to be back. He also highlighted the club’s proud history, strong fan base and consistent pursuit of championships, adding that he looked forward to reconnecting with the team and helping it achieve success in BBL|16.
