Fans erupt as Angkrish Raghuvanshi's explosive innings guides KKR to a dominant win over SRH in IPL 2026

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 continues to deliver high-octane drama, and the 45th match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad was no exception. On a humid evening on Sunday, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) solidified their playoff aspirations with a clinical 7-wicket victory over the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Despite a blistering start from the home side, KKR’s disciplined bowling and a composed run chase, anchored by the rising star Angkrish Raghuvanshi—proved too much for the Orange Army.

KKR’s bowling halts Sunrisers Hyderabad to a low score

Winning the toss and electing to bat, Sunrisers Hyderabad looked poised for a mammoth total during the Powerplay. Travis Head was in a murderous mood, racing to a half-century in just 22 deliveries. Alongside Ishan Kishan, who contributed a steady 42 off 29 balls, Head propelled SRH to 71/1 within the first six overs. However, the momentum shifted dramatically once KKR’s spin duo of Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy entered the fray.

The middle-order collapse was swift and unforgiving. Chakravarthy was the wrecker-in-chief, finishing with impressive figures of 3/36, including the crucial wickets of Ravichandran Smaran and Aniket Verma. Narine choked the scoring rate, claiming 2/31 from his four overs, while Kartik Tyagi’s pace at the death earned him 2/30. From a comfortable position of 105/1, SRH crumbled under pressure, losing their final nine wickets for just 60 runs. The home team was eventually bundled out for 165 in 19 overs, a score that felt at least 20 runs short on a true Hyderabad surface.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Ajinkya Rahane lead KKR to emphatic win over SRH

Chasing 166, KKR adopted an aggressive stance from the outset. Impact Player Finn Allen provided the initial fireworks, smashing 29 off just 13 balls at a strike rate of 223.07, ensuring the visitors matched SRH’s Powerplay intensity. After Allen’s departure, the stage was set for the young wicketkeeper-batter Raghuvanshi and veteran skipper Ajinkya Rahane to dismantle the Hyderabad bowling attack.

The pair shared a decisive partnership that took the game away from SRH. Rahane played the anchor role to perfection, scoring a sophisticated 43 off 36 balls, laced with four fours and a six. At the other end, Raghuvanshi showcased why he is considered the future of KKR’s batting. He reached his fifty in 39 balls and ended with a brilliant 59 off 47 deliveries, featuring five fours and two towering sixes.

While Pat Cummins (1/47) and Sakib Hussain (1/17) tried to stem the flow of runs, the target was never out of reach. Following the dismissals of the set batters, Rinku Singh (22* off 11) and Cameron Green (3* off 3) applied the finishing touches. KKR reached 169/3 in 18.2 overs, securing the win with 10 balls to spare. This dominant performance moves KKR up the table, leaving SRH to go back to the drawing board as the league stage nears its conclusion.
