RCB bowlers sizzle in dominant win over DC

In a one-sided contest at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) delivered a commanding performance to defeat Delhi Capitals (DC) by nine wickets in Match 39 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. After opting to bowl first, RCB’s pace attack ripped through Delhi’s batting lineup before their top order comfortably chased down the modest target in just 6.3 overs.

RCB bowlers run riot as Delhi Capitals collapse for 75

The decision to bowl first proved spot-on as RCB’s bowlers produced a clinical display. Josh Hazlewood led the charge with a superb spell, claiming four wickets while conceding just 12 runs in 3.3 overs. He found excellent support from Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who was equally lethal with figures of 3 for 5 in his three overs.

Delhi’s innings never gained momentum, with early dismissals leaving them reeling. Key batters like KL Rahul, Nitish Rana, and Axar Patel fell cheaply, exposing the middle order. Only Abishek Porel showed some resistance with a 33-ball 30, while David Miller added a fighting 19.

Despite brief contributions from Kyle Jamieson (12), Delhi were bundled out for a paltry 75 in 16.3 overs. RCB’s disciplined bowling attack, complemented by tight spells from Suyash Sharma and Krunal Pandya, ensured there was no way back for the hosts.

Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli finish things off in a flash

Chasing a modest target, RCB came out with aggressive intent. Devdutt Padikkal played a scintillating knock, smashing 34 runs off just 13 balls, including three fours and three sixes. His attacking approach put the result beyond doubt within the powerplay.

Virat Kohli continued the momentum with a fluent 23 off 15 deliveries, while Jacob Bethell chipped in with a quickfire 20. The trio ensured RCB raced to 77/1 in just 6.3 overs, completing a comprehensive victory. Delhi’s bowlers had little to defend, and apart from Kyle Jamieson picking up the lone wicket, the attack struggled to contain the flow
of runs.

This emphatic win boosts RCB’s campaign significantly, showcasing their strength in both bowling and batting departments. For Delhi Capitals, however, it was a forgettable outing, with serious concerns around their batting lineup after a dramatic collapse on home soil.
