Hasan Ali on his famous remark on Babar Azam

Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali has addressed the criticism surrounding his now-famous phrase “King Kar Lega”, which he used earlier in the season to publicly back star batter Babar Azam. While the remark was originally meant to show confidence in Babar’s abilities, it has since become a subject of trolling among fans, who believe the phrase has become a jinx—coinciding with Babar’s dip in form.

The comment gained traction during a difficult phase in Babar’s career, with social media users turning it into a meme and blaming the line for adding pressure rather than support.

During a post-match press conference in the PSL 2025, Hasan was asked directly about the ‘King Kar Lega’ statement and whether he regrets making it. The right-arm fast bowler, who is known for his animated celebrations and open-hearted personality, admitted that if the comment hurt fans or Babar, he was sorry.

Hasan acknowledged the backlash but clarified that his intent was never to mock or put extra pressure on Babar. The phrase, according to him, came from a place of belief and camaraderie. However, he showed maturity by recognizing the sentiment of fans and extending an apology if it was taken negatively.

“I’ve reached a point in my career and life where trolling doesn’t bother me anymore. We called him [Babar] ‘King’ and stood behind him. If people think saying ‘King Kar Lega’ was a mistake, then I apologize to all fans, including Babar,” said Hasan.

“He was the best, is the best” – Hasan shows unwavering support for Babar

Despite the apology, Hasan made it clear that his belief in Babar’s talent hasn’t changed. He continues to back the former captain, stating that tough times are part of every cricketer’s journey and that Babar has the potential to bounce back stronger. Hasan emphasized that one bad patch doesn’t define a player’s legacy. His words reflect the respect Babar commands in the dressing room and the kind of support system teammates like Hasan provide.

“My stance hasn’t changed—he is still Pakistan’s best. He was the best, is the best, and will bounce back soon. Everyone goes through tough times,” Hasan added.
