Sanjana Ganesan slams trolls targeting baby Angad Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah’s wife, Sanjana Ganesan, has fiercely condemned the online trolling aimed at their one-and-a-half-year-old son, Angad Bumrah, following viral pictures and videos from an IPL 2025 match between Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium. Bumrah’s stellar performance – four wickets for just 22 runs – was one of the highlights of the match.

What should have been a celebratory moment for the family quickly turned sour as insensitive and unsolicited comments about young Angad surfaced across social media platforms.

Trolls made baseless assumptions about the toddler’s demeanour, using inappropriate terms like “trauma” and “depression,” sparking outrage and concern about the online treatment of children of public figures.

Taking to Instagram, Sanjana issued a strong and heartfelt statement, directly addressing the trolls. She emphasized that both she and Jasprit have intentionally kept Angad away from social media due to its toxic environment. Sanjana clarified that their visit to the stadium was purely to support Jasprit and not an attempt to seek public attention for their child.

“Jasprit and I do everything in our power to keep Angad away from social media because the Internet is a despicable, vile place to be. I completely understand the implications of bringing a child to a cricket stadium filled with cameras, but please understand that Angad and I were there to support Jasprit and nothing else,” Sanjana wrote.

She went on to express her disappointment over people making rushed judgments based on “three seconds of footage” and highlighted the dangers of throwing around serious terms when referring to a baby. Sanjana firmly requested the public to respect their family’s privacy and urged for more empathy and understanding in the digital space.

“He is one and a half years old. Throwing around words like trauma and depression in reference to a baby says so much about who we’re becoming as a community and it’s honestly really sad,” she added. “You know NOTHING about our son, nothing about our lives, and I request you to keep your opinions online true to that. A little honesty and a little kindness goes a long way in today’s world.”

Sanjana wins hearts with her reply

This is not the first time Sanjana has taken a strong stand against online negativity. She previously earned praise for her dignified responses to trolls, especially when she was subjected to body-shaming after sharing photos with Jasprit. In a notable incident, she sharply rebuked a troll who called her “moti” (fat), reinforcing her no-nonsense attitude.

Sanjana’s unwavering stance against online harassment continues to win her widespread respect and admiration from fans and followers.
