Indian batting prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi continues to capture the imagination of the cricketing world with his extraordinary exploits at just 15 years of age. The left-handed batter has enjoyed a sensational rise over the past few months, consistently delivering match-winning performances while rewriting records at an astonishing pace. His remarkable form has now earned him a maiden call-up to India’s senior men’s T20I squad for the upcoming series against Ireland and England, further cementing his reputation as one of the brightest young talents in world cricket.
The teenager’s latest heroics came in the final of the Tri-Nation A Series, where he produced another breathtaking display with the bat. His fearless approach and ability to dominate quality bowling attacks have drawn praise from several current and former cricketers.
Jos Buttler highlights what makes Vaibhav Suryavanshi so special
Speaking on the For the Love of Cricket podcast, Jos Buttler reflected on Suryavanshi’s remarkable ability to bounce back after adversity and continue producing extraordinary performances under pressure. The England wicketkeeper-batter recalled how the teenager had been involved in a heated altercation following India A’s dramatic Super Over defeat to Sri Lanka A earlier in the tournament before responding in emphatic fashion in the very next game.
“He was involved in a heated post-match clash after India A’s Super Over defeat to Sri Lanka A. The 15-year-old exchanged a few words and briefly shoved a Sri Lankan player following reported sledging during the match. So the cricket authority stepped in quickly with warnings and disciplinary reviews following the incident, but he has instantly redeemed himself in the next game. In the next game, he hit an 11-ball 50 for India A, the fastest half-century in the history of List A 50-over cricket. So he’s at it again. It’s something we’ve never seen before, and it’s worrying how many records and things he keeps ticking off so quickly,” Buttler said on the podcast.

Another record-breaking chapter in Suryavanshi’s incredible rise
Suryavanshi’s breathtaking knock against Sri Lanka A once again showcased why he is regarded as one of the most exciting batting prospects in world cricket. Although he narrowly missed out on a century by six runs, his explosive innings completely changed the course of the final and left the opposition with no answers. During the innings, the youngster reached his half-century in just 11 deliveries, breaking the long-standing List A record previously held by former Sri Lanka all-rounder Kaushalya Weeraratne, whose 12-ball fifty had stood for more than two decades.
The innings also served as the perfect response after the emotional Super Over defeat earlier in the competition. Instead of allowing the previous setback to affect him, Suryavanshi returned with even greater determination, producing one of the finest knocks ever witnessed in List A cricket.
With a senior India call-up now secured and cricket legends across the globe continuing to shower praise on his talent, expectations around Suryavanshi continue to soar. As India prepares for their white-ball assignments against Ireland and England, all eyes will be on the teenage sensation to see whether he can carry his fearless approach onto the international stage.
