Rohit also announced his retirement from Test cricket on Wednesday, at the age of 38, bringing an end to a 12-year-long Test career. He made his debut in 2013 against the West Indies and went on to play 67 Tests, scoring 4,301 runs at an average of 40.57. He had previously retired from T20 internationals after India’s victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 but will continue to lead the national side in ODIs. His retirement leaves a significant void in India’s Test lineup, especially with the upcoming tour of England.
