India captain Shreyas Iyer has shared an interesting insight into the shopping habits within the Indian team. Iyer was part of an event featuring players from India and Afghanistan during their three-match T20I series, where he was asked about the teammate he has seen shopping the most.
Iyer did not take long to name the player, while his description of the shopping trips added a humorous touch to the conversation. The comment offered a glimpse into the lighter side of the Indian dressing room away from the pressure of international cricket.

When asked who shops the most in the Indian team, Iyer picked Tilak Varma. The India captain said he had repeatedly seen the young batter heading out for shopping and returning with a bag. Iyer’s answer suggested that Varma has developed quite a reputation among his teammates for his shopping habits. His comment also highlighted the relaxed atmosphere within the Indian squad, where players share moments away from their responsibilities on the field.
“Currently, the biggest shopper, every time I have seen him going out and coming in with a bag, is Tilak Varma. And it is not small shopping, only luxury,” Iyer said, as quoted by Cric-Mate Voice.

The exchange provided a lighter moment around the India-Afghanistan series, which saw the two teams face each other in a three-match T20I contest. With the cricketing action taking centre stage, Iyer’s response offered an unusual glimpse into the personalities within the Indian dressing room.
Varma has continued to be part of India’s T20I setup and has featured regularly in the team’s plans in the shortest format. This time, however, it was his shopping habits rather than his performances with the bat that drew attention after Iyer’s amusing revelation.
