Bangladesh Women hosted Australia Women in the second Women’s T20I at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Tuesday. The visitors yet again dominated the contest and registered a comfortable win by 57 runs to take an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the 3-match series.

Georgia Wareham sizzles with the bat

Australia Women won the toss and elected to bat first, setting the stage for an exciting encounter. In their innings, the Aussies posted a formidable total of 161/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Grace Harris led the charge with a blistering knock of 47 runs off 34 deliveries, but the standout performer for the tourists was Georgia Wareham.

Wareham smashed a tremendous half-century. His ‘explosive knock of 57 runs off just 30 balls, helped Australia reach a competitive total, which at the end proved too much for the Bangladesh.

Fariha Trisna takes a brilliant hat-trick

Bangladesh Women’s bowling effort saw Fariha Trisna shining with excellent figures of 4 wickets for 19 runs in her 4 overs. The most exciting thing was that Fariha ended up taking a hat-trick and registered her name in the history books, becoming the only Bangladeshi Women cricketer to have two hat-tricks in the shortest format. Fariha got rid of Ellyse Perry, Sophie Molineux and Beth Mooney on the final three balls of the Australian innings to complete her hat-trick.

Sophie Molineux, Ashleigh Gardner keep Bangladesh under check

In the chase, Bangladesh Women struggled to keep up with the required run rate, managing only 103/9 in their 20 overs. Dilara Akter top-scored with 27 runs, while Shorna Akter contributed a valuable 21 runs lower down the order. However, consistent wicket-taking by the Australian bowlers restricted Bangladesh’s batting lineup.

Australia’s bowling attack was spearheaded by Ashleigh Gardner and Sophie, both claiming three wickets each while conceding 17 and 10 runs respectively. Megan Schutt and Wareham also made crucial breakthroughs, ensuring Bangladesh never gained momentum in their chase. In the end, Australia Women emerged victorious by a convincing margin of 58 runs, showcasing their dominance in all facets of the game.

Georgia Wareham’s 57 off 30 was the highest strike rate 50+ score by an Australian woman not to feature a six.

While her 10 fours demonstrated an ability to find gaps, Wareham’s non boundary SR of 85.00 was also key to adapting to the challenge of batting in Bangladesh. https://t.co/AABT3Lqu5F
