AB de Villiers smacks a splendid century

Former South Africa captain AB de Villiers made a stunning return to competitive cricket, reminding fans of his sheer brilliance. Playing for Titan Legends against Bulls Legends in the Taste of SuperSport Park tournament at Centurion on March 9, De Villiers smashed a jaw-dropping century off just 28 balls. The legendary batter lit up the stage with his signature stroke play, hammering 15 sixes in his explosive innings.

AB de Villiers’ explosive knock powers Titan Legends to massive total

Batting first, Titan Legends posted a mammoth 278/7 in their 20 overs, with De Villiers leading the charge. He reached his century in grand style, pulling a delivery into the stands. His breathtaking knock left fans in awe, evoking memories of his prime years.

In response, Bulls Legends struggled at 125/8 after 14 overs when rain forced an early end to the match, sealing a dominant performance for the Titans.

First competitive match since 2021

This match marked De Villiers’ first competitive outing since retiring from all formats of the game in 2021. His last professional appearance came in the IPL for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Despite stepping away from international cricket in 2018, he remains South Africa’s second-highest run-getter across formats, amassing 19,864 runs at an average of 48.33. He still holds the record for the fastest ODI century, which he smashed in just 31 balls.

Eyes set on World Championship of Legends

In January, De Villiers announced his comeback to professional cricket and is set to participate in the second edition of the World Championship of Legends. Widely regarded as one of the modern greats, he has a remarkable record in international cricket, scoring 8,765 runs in Tests at an average of 50.66 and 9,577 runs in ODIs at 53.50.

With this sensational knock, De Villiers has once again proven why he is considered one of the most destructive batters in cricket history. Fans will now eagerly await his next chapter in the upcoming tournament.
