Legendary cricketers who set the international stage on fire in their yesteryears are donning the national colours once again in the inaugural edition of the Over-40s Global Cup in Karachi. Pakistan are scheduled to play their second game of the tournament on Wednesday, September 20 at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi versus Nepal.

Misbah-ul-Haq, who has the experience of playing 75 Tests, 162 ODIs, and 39 T20Is for his country, is leading the Pakistan side. They played their first game of the tournament on Tuesday, September 19 against the USA at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi. The ‘Men in Green’ have formed a very strong side for the tournament organised by the Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association (PVCA). Legendary all-rounders like Shahid Afridi and Abdul Razzaq are in the team. Fast bowler Mohammad Sami is also in the side along with solid batter Hasan Raza.

Pakistan are the overwhelming favourites going into their encounter against Nepal in the eight-team tournament. Nepal will have their task cut out against a very strong team like Pakistan. Cricket in Nepal has gained immense popularity in recent times with the national team qualifying for the Asia Cup for the first time earlier this year. In their debut in Asia Cup 2023, Nepal lost to Pakistan and India but the experience will surely help them in their upcoming assignments. Fans in Nepal will be following the action closely and cheering their team on as they hope to pull off a monumental upset.

Each team will play seven matches in the tournament and the top four teams will go on to play the semifinals. The PVCA is confident that the unique tournament will be a huge success.
