Argentina headed to action for the first time since winning the World Cup as they took against Panana at Estadio Monumental. Lionel Messi chipped in with an anti-France song which has caused some controversy involving the World Cup winner.

What controversy has Messi been involved in this time around?

After Argentina’s initial encounter since lifting the World Cup, Lionel Messi sang an anti-France song, endangering his public image at Paris Saint-Germain.

La Albiceleste won their third championship in December after defeating France in Qatar on penalties. After extra time, the tense final ended 3-3, but Messi’s Argentina won in the penalty shootout.

But on Thursday night, Lionel Scaloni’s team played again as they hosted Panama in Buenos Aires. The crowd was certainly loud before the game as they celebrated the greats on an emotional evening in South America.

A song of that sort Is unlikely to be well received by Messi’s fans or the other members from his France-based team while he is still playing for PSG. Messi, whose contract expires this summer, received jeers from some PSG supporters during their Sunday loss to Rennes. 

After the final on December 18, Kylian Mbappe got into a fight with some of the Argentina players, including Emi Martinez, who seemed to make fun of Mbappe by carrying up a baby doll having his face on, during the trophy celebrations in December in Buenos Aires.

When Martinez made a vulgar gesture after collecting the Golden Glove, the Aston Villa goalkeeper made headlines as well. He claimed he was sorry for the incident in February but he was doing it again with the World Cup title this time around.

Each player received a World Cup trophy replica, and they made the most of it by walking around the stadium to express their gratitude to fans in every section for their support. Players from Panama also seemed to become part of in and offer their congratulations to the Argentina team.
