With this performance throughout the Saudi Pro League, Cristiano Ronaldo has continued to outperform expectations. In addition to leading his team in goals as well as assists this year, Ronaldo is also making history with Al-Nassr.
Ronaldo just scored a goal against Al-Hazem during the 68th minute, bringing his career total of goals to an astounding 850. He now holds the record for having scored the most professional goals by a male football player (850) in the sport’s history.
The Portuguese player moved to England and scored 145 goals (during two stints) for Manchester United after scoring five goals for his childhood club Sporting CP. He became a Real Madrid club legend with 450 goals before moving to Juventus, where he scored 101 goals.
Ronaldo has 123 goals in his stellar career for Portugal and 26 goals in his first season with Al-Nassr.
Equally astounding is the fact that the 38-year-old Portuguese virtuoso is still going strong. Ronaldo has continually impressed on the scoresheet, from his earliest days at Sporting CP until his most recent exploits with Al-Nassr. He hopes to reach 900 goals before the conclusion of his playing career.
In a recent interview, Gianluigi Donnarumma of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and seasoned shot-stopper Gigi Buffon discussed Cristiano Ronaldo. Both players revealed their thoughts on a variety of subjects, including whose opponent they thought was the toughest on the pitch.
Both goalkeepers appeared to dismiss the idea of ever actually being haunted when asked about their “nightmares” in net. They did identify a few guys who actually gave them problems, though.
Donnarumma said, “As Gigi said, there are no nightmares, but the one who struck me the most is Cristiano Ronaldo. His presence, the champion he is. I was very young, so it is normal that he impressed me, but I’ve never feared anyone. Here with the national team, Ciro Immobile often scores against me. We are doing some challenges and we often joke about it. It’s always nice.”
