On Thursday, August 3, as Al-Nassr faced Zamalek, Cristiano Ronaldo came through with a crucial goal for Al-Nassr. After falling behind 1-0 to Zizo’s goal for the Saudi Pro League team against their Egyptian opponents, the former Manchester United attacker scored an equaliser.

In the 87th minute, Ronaldo leapt to score a spectacular header for his team after the Zamalek forward’s penalty kick goal. Al-Nassr was able to advance to the quarterfinals within the Arab Club Champions Cup thanks to the goal.

After scoring in his team’s 4-1 victory over Al-Monastir, Ronaldo scored for the second occasion in this competition. Al-Nassr finished second in Group C after their most recent match, which ended in a 1-1 draw, advancing them to the next round.

Sadio Mane’s debut is another significant milestone for the Saudi Arabian club. The former Liverpool winger entered the game in the second half after moving from German powerhouse Bayern Munich.

For the Senegal international’s services, Al-Nassr reportedly paid a sum of €30 million. He will now join forces with probably the best player in the entire globe. Mane is one of many well-known athletes that have signed with Saudi Arabian teams. Among those who migrated from Europe include Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Ruben Neves, as well as Marcelo Brozovic.

Ronaldo reacted when questioned about a probable return to Europe in an interview in July. He said, “I’m 100 per cent sure I won’t return to any European club. I opened the way to the Saudi league and now all the players are coming here.”

In January of this year, the former Manchester United frontman signed Al-Nassr. The international player from Portugal has contributed two assists and 16 goals in all competitions since his arrival.

On August 14, Ronaldo’s team will play Al-Ettifaq, kicking off both teams’ league campaigns. Al-Nassr and Ronaldo will be looking to start their campaign well after a disappointing end to their previous campaign where they finished second.
