Although Manchester United lost in their own backyard to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, journalist Fabrizio Romano asserted that Erik ten Hag’s status as manager remains secure.
Roberto De Zerbi’s team defeated the Red Devils 3-1, with goals from Danny Welbeck, Pascal Gross, as well as Joao Pedro for the Seagulls.
After the loss, United dropped to 13th place within the Premier League rankings, behind teams like Brentford, Fulham, and Crystal Palace. Manchester United has suffered defeat in three of its first five Premier League games after the defeat to Brighton. Some fans are already questioning the manager Erik ten Hag as a result of this.
However, Fabrizio Romano has urged the supporters to maintain their composure and support their boss. After a successful debut season, the Italian writer feels that the Dutch strategist deserves some time to put things right.
Fabrizio Romano mentioned the following in his CaughtOffside column. He said, “The defeat at home to Brighton will obviously have alarm bells ringing with some fans, but my view is that Ten Hag did an excellent job last season because the situation he inherited was complicated.”
As the season progresses, Romano thinks that Manchester United is going to significantly improve when their star players make a comeback. Luke Shaw, Mason Mount, Raphael Varane, as well as Sofyan Amrabat are just a few of the players that are now tending to ailments on the sidelines.
The journalist added, “Now he needs some time and also to have some players back from injuries because there are many important players not available for different reasons. I’d say: keep calm, let Ten Hag work as he’s an excellent coach. No panic.”
At the start of the 2022–23 campaign, temporary manager Ralf Rangnick was replaced as United’s manager by Erik ten Hag. The Red Devils finished third in the Premier League under the former Ajax manager’s leadership. Additionally, he assisted Manchester United in capturing the Carabao Cup previously this year, giving them the first major trophy since 2017.
