PARIS, France – Paul Pogba, a midfielder for France, will likely miss the World Cup because of ongoing knee issues. In April, Pogba last participated in a competitive game.
Pogba had surgery on his right knee in September, and it wasn’t until this month that he started working out again with Juventus. Due to a new injury, he hasn’t played since arriving at Juventus from Manchester United.
Tests conducted in Italy and the US revealed that the 29-year-old will not be ready for the 2022 World Cup, which begins on November 20.
The current global champions are France, who won the championship four years ago in Russia.
A Juventus official told The Associated Press on Monday, “We won’t see him until 2023, and his entourage have verified that likewise he will be absent from the World Cup.”
Rafaela Pimenta, Paul Pogba’s agent, released the following statement on Monday: “After medical exams yesterday and today, it is incredibly difficult to announce that Paul Pogba requires extra rehabilitation after his operation.”
Paul is unable to travel to Qatar with the France team due to this.
Two weeks after returning to Juventus from Manchester United, Pogba underwent surgery after tearing his meniscus during the Italian club’s preseason tour of the United States in July.
But ever since, things have been difficult for him. Additionally, he was embroiled in an extortion incident involving his older brother and pals from his youth.
In April, Pogba last participated in a competitive game.
On November 22, France is scheduled to face Australia in the opening match of their World Cup campaign in Qatar. In Group D, they will also play Tunisia and Denmark.
On November 9, France’s head coach Didier Deschamps revealed his lineup.
N’Golo Kanté, who led France to victory at the 2018 World Cup, will also miss the match for a while after undergoing surgery for a hamstring injury.
Raphael Varane, a center back for Manchester United, is also questionable for the World Cup after suffering a hamstring injury.
Pogba’s return to Turin, where he won four Serie A championships between 2012 and 2016, was expected by Juventus to aid in his rediscovery of his best form, but he has yet to play under Massimiliano Allegri.
Didier Deschamps, the manager of France, has already stated that he wouldn’t call up Pogba if he wasn’t totally fit, and on November 9 he is scheduled to announce his final World Cup team.
Deschamps declared in September that “he won’t come only to be a part of the gang.”
“Calling him up is futile if he hasn’t played previously and isn’t at his best. Even he wouldn’t want it.
Paul Pogba’s money is allegedly the target of a plot by Mathias Pogba, who was detained for the crime.
