As Roma manager Jose Mourinho has spoken about disgruntled Manchester City star Kalvin Phillips. The 28-year-old has played just 16 games for his side since his high profile move from Leeds United.

On Wednesday Kalvin Phillips got just his 2nd start for the Citizens and scored his first goal for the club. In the 85th minute Kalvin Phillips struck home the spot kick to help his side go 3-1 up against Red Star Belgrade or now known as Crvena Zvezda.

Pep Guardiola and his side haven’t been at the top of their game this season but have secured qualification for the next phase of the Champions League. The 3-2 win was their 6th in the Champions League.

AS Roma Manager Jose Mourinho comments on Kalvin Phillips situation

60-year-old AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho has spoken about the situation that Kalvin Phillips finds himself in. Since his move from Leeds United, the 28-year-old has struggled for game time under Pep Guardiola.

Speaking to the media Mourinho said “Not that I’m jealous, but Man City paid 80 million pounds for Kalvin Phillips and now Pep said it would be better for him to leave. So, he’ll leave and they will get someone else. Our reality is very different. It’s not easy for us to sign one player.”

Erling Haaland meanwhile was happy to see his 28-year-old teammate score his first goal for the blues. The 23-year-old is currently out injured without any specific timeline about his comeback known. Taking to social media the young striker posted a heart emoji with a screengrab of Kalvin Phillips celebrating the goal.

There is apparent interest from Liverpool. Manchester United, and Arsenal for the midfielder. It is unclear if City will see any of their top six rivals since the addition of Kalvin Phillips could give the opposition a boost.

Meanwhile there is more pressure on Erik Ten Hag at Manchester United. Despite winning the Manager of the Month for November, the injury list seems to be growing with Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw the latest to the list. The pair had been injured during the game against Bayern Munich at home. The Red devils travel to Anfield next where they play table toppers Liverpool next. As per sources Graham Potter could be in line to take over Manchester United if the results don’t improve.
