MANCHESTER, England – Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, said that he compares France’s Kylian Mbappe to striker Marcus Rashford.

In a World Cup campaign that was brought to a close by a loss to Mbappe’s France, Rashford led England in goals scored.

“I saw enormous potential from the very beginning,” Ten Hag said.

There is essentially no player in the world who can match Marcus’ positioning on the back of the defending line. At the moment, there is [only] Mbappe.

With the Premier League starting up again on December 26 after a break for the World Cup, Rashford will now play once more for United.

Since the Premier League resumes on December 26 after a break for the World Cup, Rashford will once again play for United in the league.

After missing the beginning of the season due to shoulder surgery, Rashford struggled last season and failed to make an impression.

He only managed to score four goals in 25 Premier League games, which was the fewest since 2017 to 2018, and he was demoted from the national team.

But Rashford has rewarded the faith given in him this season by Dutch boss Ten Hag in his first season in charge of United, scoring eight goals in 19 appearances in all competitions.

With four league goals, the 25-year-old has already surpassed his total from 2021 to 2022.

Ten Hag believes Rashford is improving his game outside of possession, including the high press, which he was criticized for during Ralf Rangnick’s disastrous stint as interim manager last season. Rashford is a threat when he plays off the last line of defense, but Ten Hag also believes Rashford is becoming more comfortable pressing opponents.

The goal Phil Foden scored against Wales was referenced by the United manager as an illustration of the effort Rashford is making for England.

Ten Hag observed, “I witness him doing that constantly. He did an excellent job representing England there, in my opinion.

Similar to other senior players, goalkeeper David de Gea, fullbacks Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot, and midfielder Fred, the forward’s current contract expires at the conclusion of the current campaign.

Because “we have choices” to extend those contracts for an additional season, according to Ten Hag, and “we will utilize those options,” United are still in charge of the matter.

Although Rashford’s representatives met with Paris St-Germain in August, there have been persistent rumors that the French team is prepared to make a sizable financial offer for the forward. Ten Hag claims that while he wants the forward to stay, he has no control over the situation.

He declared, “He must choose.” “The only thing we can do is demonstrate to him why this is the best club to be a part of, which has to do with the club’s culture as well as how we operate as a team during practice and games, how we train, and whether we provide a conducive environment for growth.

“It’s also a financial matter; he will have to decide that, but he’ll be here for an additional 1.5 years.”

Marcus Rashford entered the senior spotlight for the first time in February 2016 and excelled there, never looking back.

Ten Hag believes the attacker can be compared to France’s Kylian Mbappe, one of the undisputed World Cup stars thus far, and that his ability to leave the Academy next year is unquestionable.

Marcus needs to make a decision, the manager told the media. For him so far, the only thing we can do is show just why this is the greatest club to join, which includes the club’s culture as well as how we function as a team during practices and games, how we train, and whether or not we offer the right environment for development.
