French giants Paris Saint Germain (PSG) are plotting a staggering 175m GBP for Manchester City’s star striker Erling Haaland, according to reports. PSG, with their European ambitions coming to a sad end in yet another season, would look to revamp their side with yet another big-money signing.
Over the last few years, PSG have made several big signings such as Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos etc. in their pursuit of getting their hands on the UEFA Champions League Trophy. And this time, their eyes are set on the Premier League top-scorer, Haaland, as reported by Daily Mail.
PSG lost their Round of 16 tie to German heavyweights Bayern Munich with an aggregate scoreline of 3-0, meaning that they go yet another year without getting their maiden European silverware. Haaland is currently enjoying one of the best seasons of his career, scoring 28 goals in the league. He is only four goals away from equalling Mohamed Salah’s record for scoring the most goals in a Premier League season.
Reports also suggest PSG could look beyond club veterans, Neymar and Messi, who are 31 and 35 respectively, during the upcoming summer. This could also make room to accommodate wages and the transfer fee for the Norwegian forward.
With yet another manager failing to take the Parisian club to Champions League glory, Christophe Gatlier could face the axe at the stroke of the 2022-23 season, like the previous managers such as Unai Emery, Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino.
PSG are currently the league leaders in Ligue 1 with 66 points in 27 matches with 21 wins, three draws and three losses. They are 11 points clear of Marseille who are second on the table. They won 2-1 away against Brest on Sunday, courtesy of goals from Carlos Soler and their main man, Mbappe. The French starlet sealed the win with a 90th-minute winner.
