All-round Mehidy Hasan Miraz propels Bangladesh to dominating win over Zimbabwe in the 2nd Test

Bangladesh just came to heavy for Zimbabwe in the second test at the Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium, Chattogram, finishing Day 3 with a commanding win. The visitors left clueless against Bangladesh’s bowling, which led to a thrashing defeat by an innings and 106 runs. A win for Bangladesh means series ending on a draw where both sides claiming one game each.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s century powered Bangladesh to win

Bangladesh were propelled by Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s resilient 2nd Test century. His marathon knock, laced with elegant drives, was complemented by debutant Tanzim Hasan Sakib’s gritty 41. The duo frustrated Zimbabwe’s bowlers, who struggled on a slow pitch. Vincent Masekesa’s five-wicket haul provided some relief, but Bangladesh’s 444 all out was imposing. Shadman Islam’s Day 2 ton laid the foundation, and Mehidy’s 113-run morning session, despite a brief rain delay, ensured Bangladesh’s ascendancy.

Zimbabwe’s batting faltered under pressure

Zimbabwe’s second innings began on a shaky note, slumping to 22/3, trailing by 209 runs. Only three of visitors’ batter able to reach double digits with Ben Curran was the only one to put up some fight with his 46(103). Apart from Curran Craig Ervine got a start but couldn’t get going with his 25(56). Meanwhile, Mehidy Hasan was the pick of the bowlers who grabbed a five-wicket haul along with Taijul Islam who took 3-wickets.

Bangladesh squares the series 1-1

After losing the first game in Sylhet the hosts fought back really well. Bangladesh’s dominance was built on a combination of disciplined batting and incisive bowling. Mehidy’s all-round brilliance, scoring runs and taking wickets, has been the cornerstone of their performance. Taijul’s accuracy and ability to exploit the pitch conditions further tilted the game in Bangladesh’s favor. Zimbabwe’s bowlers, including Blessing Muzarabani and Wellington Masakadza struggled for rhythm allowing Bangladesh to pile on runs and build a massive lead which eventually cost Bangladesh the series.
