The London Spirit secured a thrilling six-run victory over Welsh Fire in The Hundred Men’s 2026, but the contest also produced a spectacular moment in the field. With Welsh Fire chasing a modest target, a brilliant piece of teamwork near the boundary helped London Spirit remove James Coles and put the hosts under further pressure. The dismissal came during the 82nd ball of the innings, when Coles looked to clear the boundary but found himself undone by an exceptional relay catch.

The dismissal came when Rachin Ravindra bowled to Coles, who attempted to clear the boundary with a lofted shot down the ground. The ball appeared to be heading towards a six, but Marco Jansen positioned himself perfectly near the long-on boundary. The 6ft 8in pacer jumped and caught the ball before realising his momentum would take him over the ropes. Showing excellent awareness, Jansen threw the ball back into play towards the converging Tom Kohler-Cadmore, who completed the catch.
Coles was dismissed for 29 off 22 deliveries, including two fours and a six. His wicket came on the 82nd ball of the innings and left London Spirit needing a strong finish to post a competitive total.

London Spirit edge Welsh Fire by six runs
London Spirit posted 131 for 8 after being asked to bat first. Jonny Bairstow provided the early impetus with 34 off 19 balls, but Welsh Fire kept taking wickets to prevent the hosts from building a big total. Chris Woakes was particularly effective with the ball, while Jansen also kept the scoring under control. Liam Livingstone and Dewald Brevis departed cheaply before Coles attempted to accelerate the innings. Jamie Overton added some valuable runs late on as Spirit finished on 131.
Welsh Fire appeared to be in control during their chase after Joe Root and Jordan Cox helped take the score to 90 for 2 after 69 balls. Cox eventually scored 44 off 28 deliveries, while Root contributed 31 from 31. However, the hosts lost momentum at the crucial stage. Overton conceded just one run from the 18th set, leaving Welsh Fire requiring 16 from the final 10 balls.
Adam Milne then dismissed Cox and Kohler-Cadmore with consecutive deliveries, before Rachin was caught off David Willey. With 14 still needed from three balls, Woakes hit a six but could manage only a single from the next delivery. Jansen then held his nerve on the final ball, with Overton finding the fielder at deep midwicket as London Spirit completed a six-run victory.
