The cricketing world is eagerly anticipating the climax of the West Indies tour of Australia 2024, with a thrilling three-match T20I series. Notably, this follows a riveting two-match Test battle that ended in a draw and a lopsided three-match ODI leg that tilted in favor of Australia.

The highly promising T20I series will kick off from February 9 with the first game scheduled at the picturesque Bellerive Oval in Hobart. West Indies, fresh from their 3-2 victory against England in the previous T20I series, will be determined to replicate their success against the formidable Australian side and erase the memory of their ODI whitewash.

West Indies’ best playing XI for T20I series against Australia

The opening pair is a crucial element in any T20 encounter, and the West Indies will rely on the dynamic duo of Brandon King and Shai Hope to set the tone. Known for their ability to find gaps and capitalize on powerplays, King and Hope can prove to be a lethal combination at the top of the order.

Middle Order:

Stepping into the middle order, Kyle Mayers will be entrusted with the responsibility of steadying the ship in case of a top-order collapse. His ability to keep the scoreboard ticking and accelerate when required makes him a valuable asset. Supporting Mayers will be Nicholas Pooran, with his wealth of experience in top T20 leagues and capability to shift gears swiftly.

West Indies skipper Rovman Powell will also join the formidable duo of Mayers and Pooran to provide further strength and stability to the lineup.

The all-rounders play a pivotal role in providing depth to the batting lineup and contributing crucial breakthroughs with the ball. Andre Russell, a T20 stalwart, is poised to bring an exceptional balance, excelling with both bat and ball. Russell will be supported by another two-dimensional cricketer in the form of Romario Shepherd to collectively fortify West Indies’ all-round capabilities.

In the bowling department, a formidable trio comprising Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, and Oshane Thomas will pose a serious threat to the Australian batters. With a mix of pace and variations, they have the potential to dismantle the opposition’s batting lineup. Gudakesh Motie will take up the role of the lone specialist spinner, adding variety to the attack and exploiting potential weaknesses in the Australian lineup.
